Slur A curved line drawn over two or more notes. It shows that these notes are part of the same phrase and should be played “legato” (without lifting between notes). This is the same symbol used for a tie. You can tell the difference because a tie will be between two notes that are the same while a slur will be between 2 or more notes that are different.
