Fireworks

Fireworks Suzan Stroud

Verse 1
It’s summer, it’s hot, I’m ten
It’s sunday, fourth of july
And everybody’s makin’ plans to watch the sky
But we get in our car and go… home

Tr Bridge 1
My father says we’ve seen in a million times
But I think that it couldn’t be more than nine

Verse 2
My mother speaks up, they argue
I hope she wins, maybe he’ll tire
It’s so unfair how he steals her fire
Our hopes are hung on summer strung lights, we’re dangling

Tr Bridge 2
I think what’s the point of moving to death from birth
If you never get an hour of fireworks

Chorus
Oh god, I live for that
And everything in between
Is nothing but the means
To make it back
To the fireworks

Verse 3
It’s summer, it’s hot, I’m still ten
It’s sunday, fourth of july
And we’re still waiting as she gives up the fight

Tr Bridge 3
She takes us in the car and drives us to the park
We get there just in time to see the last…   spark

Chorus
Oh god, I live for that
And everything in between
Is nothing but the means
To make it back
To the fireworks

Verse 4
It’s summer, it’s cool,  I’m still twenty-seven

It’s thursday, fourth of july
These days my fire’s my own
I get in my car and… go

Tr Bridge 1
My father says we’ve seen in a million times
But I think that it couldn’t be more than nine

Couldn’t be more than, couldn’t be more than, couldn’t be more than nine
Couldn’t be more than, couldn’t be more than, couldn’t be more than nine
