Light Years Suzan Stroud
Verse 1
Snowflakes fall and hover
From the clouds they sift
They float down like feathers
Until they join the drift
I should want to settle down
and join in the snow cover
I should want the same snow things
as any snowdrift lover
Verse 2
But I was born a snowflake
that climbs instead of clings
A dreamy grain of glitter ‘
wishing to grow wings
I floated off
lost within my mind
A single crystal sparkling
exploring my own shine
Chorus
An out of sync projection, longing for connection
I’m light years from you
I can’t undo my journey and come back from the stars
I can’t undo myself to join you where you are
I’m light years from you
Verse 3
Do other snowflakes worry,
about what they do not know?
Or do they give in to the flurry
and accept that they are snow?
I would like to find that peace
and I know I have a place
Even if it’s not the ground
but somewhere out in space
Even if I’m…
Chorus
An out of sync projection, longing for connection
I’m light years from you
I can’t undo my journey and come back from the stars
I can’t undo myself to join you where you are
I’m light years from you
Bridge
I could have been a raindrop
I could have been a cloud
I could have joined a waterfall
Blended with the crowd
I could have been water in the desert
I could have been a mirage
I don’t know why I’m wasting my wishing
On what I’ll never have
